Where Do Queen Termites Live?

Where do queen termites live?

Queen termites play a crucial role in the colony’s survival, & their location is key to the colony’s success.

This is where queen termites are typically found

Underground Colonies

  • Subterranean termites, the most common type, live in large underground colonies. The queen resides in a protected chamber deep in the soil, where she lays thousands of eggs.

  • These colonies can extend few feet underground and often have numerous tunnels leading to their food source, wood.

Wood Structures

  • Drywood termites live directly in the wood they infest. The queen of a drywood termite colony is located deep within a wooden structure, such as beams or furniture.

  • These termites do not require soil contact, & their colonies can remain hidden inside wooden structures for years.

Hidden, Secure Areas

  • The queen termite is usually surrounded by a protective group of workerssoldiers to ensure her safety & continued reproduction. She is rarely exposed to danger & remains hidden deep within the colony.
