Cockroaches are nocturnal and will be much more active at night and in the dark, so the possibility of a roach crawling on you will be much higher at night. That being said, cockroaches will tend to be more prevalent in the kitchens and bathrooms where there is more access to water, so if you are seeing roaches in the bedroom or living room, then there is a high probability that the population is quite large.
